Hi everyone! I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada and I am a very new (approx. 3 hours) axie mom!! I'm so excited as I've wanted one forever and finally convinced myself to do it! He seems to be hiding a bit so far, but that is to be expected. I mean, he did have a big day!

XOXO :p
PS, I will attach a picture of my baby (Pickles) once he starts to explore a little bit!

Congratulations on getting your first axie! Welcome to the forum ^_^

Hi Amanda and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on getting Pickles, what sort of axolotl is he? I'm looking forward to seeing lots of pictures of your little baby. :D

He's a 6 month old leucistic with black eyes and is absolutely adorable! image.jpg

Yes, he is absolutely adorable.
I hope that you are enjoying having an axolotl in your life.

Thanks everyone! He seems to be adjusting very well! He's getting more active and started eating his worms out of my hand!!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on getting my baby more familiar with me? I know, he's not a dog and won't come when he's called, but any tips or advise is welcome! :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
