I have a juvenile axolotl named Axel. He currently is in a little quarantined tub (for fungus). He isn't eating and I'm getting worried. Since he is still a juvenile I don't know how long he can go without eating. He has gotten A LOT thinner in these past few days. My first axolotl died of a fungus, At the time I didn't know what it was and wasn't experienced enough to know. But he stopped eating and it's really worrying me for Axel. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

What treatment is Axel getting for his fungus?
When was the last time he ate?
When was the last time he pooped?
I understand from your other post that you are doing daily water changes with well water. I suggest that you still use a dechlorinator even with well water.
What is the temperature of the water, and is the temperature stable or does it fluctuate?
Would you be able to post some pictures of Axel so that we can see what condition he is in?
Sorry for asking so many questions, but the more information that we have the more we will be able to help.

To treat Axels' fungus I've been giving him a salt bath everyday for a week (on day four).
The last time he ate was three days ago. I have been feeding him blood worms and sinking pellets.
He has been pooping constantly. I don't think he has ever pooped this much.
I'll try getting a dechlorinator and I'll see what happens.
The temperature of the water is pretty stable and is always about 65°F.
I'll try sending pictures as soon as I can.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
