Hello,

First of all, I apologize for my bad English. I can read, but not write, so I use google to help.

I'm trying to make a Triturus cristatus couple reproduction. How to live in a hot country, my winter is not too cold.
In particular, it is winter and hot (approximately 73.4 F / 23 ° C).
With ice aid, I have maintained the water at a temperature around 64.6 F / 18 ° C.

The female is very fat, and the male changed color. It is much clearer, with "pints" black / dark and swollen cloaca.

However, the crest is only a few millimeters. It seems now decided to grow.

My question is not necessarily the crest must be "large / developed" to occur playback?

From what I've been reading, the male shows all the signs for reproduçãi, including the white / clear band on the tail. Just do not display a large crest, as I often see on the internet photos.

Thank you.

Thiago.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
