Ookayso my axie, Pablo, hasn't eaten in 3-4 days, im not sure how old he is but i think hes around 6-8 months, and hes still really skinny even though i feed him every day he'll eat for me.

i do weekly/fortnightly waterchanges of his tank, and feed him crickets, steakand beef heart occasionally.
im really worried about him because i don't want him to die.
does anyone know what could possibly be wrong with him or am I just over reacting?

Feed him earthworms. The reason he is so skinny is because he's not getting the right nutrition. Worms, slivers of raw fish, maggots, raw shellfish. NO mammalian meat.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
