Yesterday I got an axolotl, Jeffry, to be a tank mate with my current axolotl Alice. He has been doing fine and seems to get along with my other axie. Just now I was sitting by his tank when I head a noise, kind of like a small dog barking, coming from my tank. I looked over to see Jeffry open mouthed yelling. He and Alice where on opposite sides of the tank so I don't think he was yelling at her.

Ive never heard of this happening before, is he alright?:(

I've read on this forum they can make a squeak sound, but that's about it?

Squelch, belch, burp, fart, quack, bark, pop - all normal noises axie make when gulping air.

haha I actually think that's why they're called water dogs!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
