Hey guys! I just purchased my first axolotl today. His name is Frankie; he is currently settled into a 20long gallon tank. I have flat river rocks, a good filer, and a cute little hide. Frankie is a baby wild type, only about 4 inches long. At the moment I am giving him half a bloodworm cube in the morning, and one in the evening. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I would love to hear them! <3

Hi & welcome to the forum! I don't have axos but as they are really cute and interesting, been reading about them in some amount. I think you could feed it with Earth worms already as they are much better in nutrition. To give your baby best possibilities grow healthy and strong :) I'm sure someone with axolotl experience will tell you more! And do read carefully the axolotl threads, there's lots of information!
PS. It' s best to take stones away if there's even a tiny possibility they could ne swallowed!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
