I have 3 tanks of fully aquatic Taricha Torosa (2 tanks) and Taricha Granulosa (1 tank). I have Anacharis in 2 tanks as well as Frogbit, but it keeps getting stuck in my filters.

What are some good aquatic plants that will allow for egg laying as well as for the well being of my tanks. Tank temperatures range from 66-76 in the summer and 60-68 in the winter. I live in a city where it gets up to 110 degrees in the summer.

Also, what filter do you recommend for a fully aquatic set up. I have had 50/50 aquatic and land set ups, but my Taricha stay aquatic year round.

Thank you

I don't use filters in any of my tanks (I do water changes every three weeks). I also use plastic strips for egg laying.

I don't keep the same kind of newts as you do but I also do not use a filter. I have an air bubbler though. And after I added plastic strips my eastern newts preferred laying on those over the plants.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
