Hello wonderful people of Caudata.org! My name is Kristopher, I am a college student from Alaska, but attending school in Illinois. I am a zoology major and just love all animals. I found out about axolotls maybe two or 3 years ago and have just been interested in salamanders since then. A while back I kept an African Clawed Frog for a few years as a child. I am currently interested in keeping a Chinese fire belly newt or a blue tail fire belly newt and was hoping this organization can help me find and care for the newt.

Best Wishes,
Kristopher

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
