Hello everyone!
I'm new but excited to be here! I've been interested in axolotls for the past few years but haven't been able to get one because I was traveling a lot. I'm finally in a place where I can get one but I can't find any :/ I am looking for a leucistic axie. If you have any idea of where I can look, please point me in the right direction! I live in VA so it would be a bonus if you know of anything close. I have reached out to several breeders and pet stores with no luck. I have researched and already have everything set up and cycling.

A little more about me: I am an animal lover. I am a scuba diver- I love all things aquatic. I have recently gotten into aquaponics because I dream of living more sustainably.

Thank you all! I'm so happy to be a part of this community.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
