All of my brine shrimp died. What do I do?

My Axolotl are about a week and a half old. I have been feeding them brine shrimp. The first batch of brine shimp lasted a long time, because somebody told me to put it in the fridge in between feeding. This worked fine. My second batch of brine shrimp hatched, I fed the axolotl twice yesterday, and then put it in the fridge. Today, to my horror, the shrimp are all dead. 99.9% at least, I see a movement every so often. What do I do? I currently have eggs being made, but they won't be ready for another day. I have frozen bbs. Would the axolotl eat that? Or do I give them the recently dead bbs, with maybe a few live ones. How long can they go without eating? Is 20-30 hours ok?

Most people hatch bbs and use it right away, they say there nutritional value is gone after 24 hour. I have read they use up there yolk sac within 24hour then they are as nutritious as potato chips. You might want to live food sources for larvae

Check out form index go down to food you'll see bbs in a article, click that i made some bbs hatching things. It's under homemade bbs egg shell separater. I was able to keep them hatching at the same time use the live ones for food, for several days. Very easy no bbs shells to pick out plus with no air either.

You could try mincing a nightcrawler into as small pieces as you can and see if they'll eat that. Don't put a lot in there til you see if it works, because if not , it'll foul the tank. But if you only try a little you'll be OK.

you could try instant baby brine shrimp and an air stone also as it has work for me on two different batches of axolotl babes (about 85 axolotls) with no problem. The air stone makes the instant brine shrimp float around like regular baby brine shrimp and the babe axolotls eat them up. You have to put the jar in the refrigerator once you open it. I think it is more reliable than trying to hatch brine shrimp eggs.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
