I know axolotls love plants, so I bought some water wisteria/water weeds and planted them in. That was about a month ago, and the things still sway dramatically when I do water changes. So how is it that Tabitha(4.5-5 inches) can balance on them?

Are axolotls just really light? I just find it really interesting that a plant that sways and occasionally threatens to come uprooted can support him. This plant in particular is his favorite live plant(I have 4 live plants and 3 fake so far) as I have found him sitting atop of it a few times

Ha! So cute!! I don't know, perhaps it's because they are light. They just sort of seem to float/balance wherever they are.

MIne do this all the time and sometimes they anchor themselves with their hands - I love it :)

Ive been watching him while laying in bed for an hour... He's so active when I'm supposed to be at school! He's been playing with his lungs the entire time. He gulps some air, then floats and swims to a plant, sits there until he's bored, 'accidentally' falls off, then swims up and gulps some air again and the process restarts! How some people can get bored of these animals surprises me!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
