The one on the first picture in the upper right corner looks a lot like a gravid female. I'm really no expert though.

The two in the round bowl in the first pic look like a pair to me, as Jort says, the female looks gravid. I'm not too familiar with Kanto, if that's what they are, but male pyrrhos generally tend to have a squarer cross section than females and much larger, rounder cloacas. They also normally have longer toes on their hind feet and sometimes a blue/purple tinge to their tails and flanks, but some races lack this last fearure.
If you pop them in a container with a clear bottom and get some good shots from underneath it should be a bit easier to tell them apart.

Thank you both. The one I assumed was a male does have the longer toes and slightly bluish tail  I just got confused because the gravid female has a large cloaca but does this come with being gravid?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
