Breeding conditions for eastern newts

Hey there,
I've just set up a semi aquatic tank with a few feeder rosey red fish and am expecting to get my hands on some eastern newts in the next few weeks. I'd like to know if anyone has ideas for ideal breeding conditions for the newts. Specifically certain plants, foods, increase/decrease in water current, amount of light, temperature?

Step 1, ditch the rosey red fish. Most think fish disrupt captive newt environments. Remember, in the wild there is infidelity more space. In captivity everything is jammed into an unnaturally small area so different species more easily uset each other.

I've had some success getting eastern newts to bred, still working on having more success raising them.

Lowering the temperature from the low 70s to the mid/high 60s usually gets them in the mood. Seems like they'll lay eggs on a wide variety of stem plants (anacharis, egeria, myrio, cabomba, ludwigia, etc). Plants usually do best with 4 hoyrs of light, 4 hours of dark, and the 4 hours of light (daily). Don't know what the newts like...don't think they care much. Preferable for there to be no water current. Feeding 2-3 times a week is usually recommended. I think some think extra/more frequent feeding g might help breeding.
