Hi, new to the site. I find the info amazing and so thorough. thanks to those who regularly contribute.
I am in Aus and we bought a single axolotl for our kids for Christmas. Wanted to get a pair but where we are they're hard to come by - something about a disease went through some of the breeders is what one local pet store told me. Does anyone know a breeder in Northern NSW that has any to spare cause we'd love another one.
We're having issues with the one we have but I have posted about that in the Sick Axolotl section so won't double up here.
Looking forward to beign a part of the group. You all seem so happy and eager to help which is great :D

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
Unfortunate that you are having problems getting hold of axolotls in your area. I have a small gang and watching them together is great.
I've put some information on your other thread, it should be fairly straight forward to sort out.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
