So this is Munson, a dwarf, I'm assuming. He seems perfectly healthy, although his gills are a little short, but is probably less than a quarter of the size of another wild type I got at the same time. Question is, is anyone aware of any care or lifespan differences with these guys? Anything I need to be aware of? Thanks everybody.

Those rocks look they are a size that could be swallowed. And they will, eventually. Do a search on here about Axolotl substrate or just scroll through the axie section. Good luck!

Doesn't look like a dwarf to me. He's not the right shape. Can you get a proper side view and an above view just to confirm?

He just looks like an axolotl that wasn't fed enough as a baby and juvenile and so his growth is stunted.

Those stones need to be removed too ?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
