Hi, i'm new to this site, but it looked really fun and it seemed like there's a really kind and informative community here. I have been preparing to get an Axolotl for the past 2 months now, and while I believe I have all the requirements to care for an Axolotl (I've done a TON of research), I just want to be sure (I want to make sure my tank has the appropriate setup as well).

I've already contacted a breeder and everything...but they aren't really replying and it's driving me insane  so...if anyone has suggestions on easier ways to get an Axolotl as well, feel free to let me know.

Axolotl.org is a good site to go to but on ths website there are alot of people that sell eggs, babies, juveniles, and adults so look on here for breeders in the for sale section

Thanks for the advice!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
