I noticed recently that there seemed to be something wrong with my axolotl's toes. They seemed shorter and stubbier, almost as if a the last digit of a lot of toes got nipped.
He doesn't have any tank mates, so my only two ideas are that bad water quality, that I recently corrected, somehow caused it, or the he has a fungal infection. There appears to be a little bit so something on one of his longer toes. I cant decide if it skin or fungus. He is still eating well and is responsive when I wave at him.
I am trying to decide if salt baths and/or Fridging would be an good idea. I am also worried about shocking him with 100% new water for the salt bath, so I was wondering if I can use his tank water in a container to make the salt bath instead.
