I can't believe how much he has grown! The first pic is from the third day in my house, the other pics are from today - just 18 days later! I've now had him for 21 days, and he is 5 centimeters (2") longer!

His gill is regenerating, was probably bitten off by a hungry sibling...

Oh wow! He's gotten so big! Very cute, by the way. :D

He says thanks! It's really interesting how fast it all happened - he's got facial features now! :p

Wow, now I can't wait to see how mine change once they come home....I am getting babies next week!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
