Let's get right to it - I adopted 2 axolotl's a few weeks ago - Jack & Diane - they came in a 2x2x2 glass aquarium - I find them very still - rarely moving at all - it could be the move and different surroundings - I have maintained the diet they were on - I have two questions - today - (1) can they over eat to the point they are unhealthy or will they simply refuse food if they are full and (2) I am looking at buying them a 75 gallon tank in the hopes that they will be more active - is there any point or are they just docile?
Can't wait to hear some answers - reading all the material you can get your hands on is great but talking to other axolotl owners is best.
Thank you,
Lori

I see no one answered these questions, maybe try reposting in the Axolotl help section.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
