I have some axie juvies bread from leucistic mom and melanoid dad. I think all of the babies are melanoid at this point. I have one guy, we've named Hercules, who is quite a bit bigger than the others and is more speckled and has a greenish hue. I've tried shining a light on his eyes and I don't see any ring at all, so I don't think he's a wild type. What do y'all think?

Hercules on the left. Darker clutch mate on the right.

The one on the right is deffinately a melanoid. The first on I think is a melanoid too but the color could also be wild. If you can't see a gold ring around its eye it's a melanoid.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
