I have 3 young N. Kaiseri. I have them in a 10 gal for a few day I was making adjustments to their tank. I made the mistake of not weighing the screen top now enough and my cat knocked it off. 2 of the 3 escaped. I found them both covered in hair from the carpet. One acted reasonably ok once I had him cleaned off and back in the water. The other one seems very weak. What do I do to help them recover?? I can't find very much information on these little guys let alone troubleshoot.
Thank you for any information you have. ?

I would just make sure their water quality is perfect and try to avoid any further stress. I've had two adult pyrrhos escape a few years back and despite them looking and acting like they were half dead when I found them they both survived. If they do begin to recover make sure you keep a close eye on any skin damage for secondary infections or fungal outbreaks until they've fully healed.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
