Hello fellow salamander keepers! I only kept Cynops Orientalis, because they are the only newts available in my country (portugal) but i want to get a new species. Obviously gonna have to import it ._. can you help me find the perfect newt for me?
-I'd like one which would be semi-aquatic, since i come from the aquarium hobby and id like to have a part of his habitat made like an emerse aquarium so to speak;
-Good for begginers, since i only kept 1 species (they lived for 11 years but still i consider myself a begginer obviously)
-And not very difficult to breed.

For what ive seen until now, my favourite species are Triturus carnifex and marmoratus (even for what i learned they are fully aquatic when adults). So if youd like to sugest a species that goes out of my "paterns" just do it :D
Thank you in advance

yes it would be an option :) though i prefer smaller ones, but one to consider indeed thanks for the opinion ^^

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
