Cut in axolotl's tail

While doing a water change yesterday, I noticed a cut in my axie's tail, which you can see here:

I think the likely culprit is a cave-shaped ornament whose entrance is a bit narrower than I recalled. I've since removed it, and will replace it with a PVC tube until I can get something more stylish.

I feed him daily with tongs, so the cut is more than likely very recent, otherwise, I would have noticed.

Is there anything specific I should do to avoid infections or anything like that? Will it heal on its own?

This is the first time I've noticed a wound in him, so I'm a bit nervous.

To me it looks pretty mild and should heal OK. There's not really anything you can put on it considering it's an aquatic animal. Just keep an eye on it.
