Hello!
So, I can't find much information on dwarf axolotls, but I was wondering what is the estimated life span of an axolotl with dwarfism?
I recently adopted the sweetest axolotl I have ever met and she is a dwarf, I absolutely adore her.
So, if I basically just give her the best life possible with perfect water parameters, feeding regularly, just the whole sha-bang, what is the predicted life span for her? She is almost a year old now, and I have heard of dwarves dying pretty early on which breaks my heart.. I hope she lives to at least 5 years, but 10 would amazing!

I've never had one live beyond 2 years, but they've been girls and I think producing eggs is too much for them. Boys might live a bit longer, but you're right - they don't live very long.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
