Hey everyone! I've been browsing helpful topics on here for a while now so figured I'd sign up! I'm in tbe process of cycling atank for my 2 axolotls so I'm undoubtedly going to need help!
My boys are called Alduin and Paarthurnax and are currently living in a large tub which I change the water of every other day :) hopefully the tank cycles quickly so they can move in :)

Aww! Skyrim named Axies! Very pretty leucistic axies! Mine are also fandom named. Lol "Dream" And "Nightmare".

(ones a GFP Golden Albino, and the others a black Melanoid!)

Also, as a cycling tip, I do recommend getting API quickstart, and sprinkling fish food in the tank every so often, I recommend getting the tank to 5pp Ammonia, then waiting 24 hours to see if it lowers to 0pp. Thats the current method im using!!! It may take several weeks though depending on how big your tank is, mine is a 10 gallon (Baby axolotls), so it may take 2 to 6 weeks for mine to be cycled! I also recommend not putting your axies in there until you for sure know your tank is cycled. Im not sure how much Nitrates you need to look for though, sorry <3
Best of luck to you and your new dragons!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
