So I just my Axolotl around 2 days ago and when I came home from work my Axolotl was just on the surface(Now I heard sometimes they just like to do that so I just accidentally scared him down) when he went down it looked like he had no trouble at all going down but a bit later he looked like he had a hard time walking and kept curling his tail as if he was stressed about something. I don’t know if I am just overeating or what but below is a few bits of information that might help.Thank you in advance:)
-2 inches long
-feeding him bloodworms
-bare bottom tank
-Got him 3-2 days ago

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
