Hi there again,

So I recently took in a sick axololt in the hopes that I could help him out. He had a slight fungal infection, a large purple spot on his chin, and is under fed. I waited a couple of days before starting treatment so that he could get used to his new environment (temps and water parameters). Yesterday his puple spot burst and was bleeding very badly. He had some red spots on the tip of his tail, and in the research I did I came to the conclusion that they were slight abrasions. Now he has them all over his body (including gills). He is still slightly bleeding for the lump on his chin.

I have now moved him to the fridge and started very, very weak salt baths - but have now stopped as the red spots have worsened. I’m considering tea baths but have no clue if this is the right way to go about it.

Also as I write this I’ve just noticed (because he was upside down for a second) that his cloaca is red-ish and open looking..

Things aren’t looking to great for this guy but I am trying so hard to do what is best. I can’t take him into a vet as not many specialists are out here and I don’t have the money at the moment. I will call someone to see if they have any ideas but I’m not sure how successful that will be.

Pictures are attached. Please note that the water was changed right after the pictures were taken. He was only is this water for about 8hrs, so I’m not sure why it is so dirty

Thank you for reading. image.jpg

So unfortunately the little guy passed away a few hours ago. I wasn't really expecting him to make it, but I give him my best. I am so angry with the pet store who were selling these axolotls. I will be writing a formal complaint to the pet store (this was my plan from the day I bought him) because they need to know that this is not okay and that they should not be selling axolotls if they cannot care for them in the time they have them.

Thank you to everyone who helped me out with this guy in previous posts and thread.
