I just got my axolotl a few days ago and I just wanted to know if they are okay. It's a little under 6 months and about 3 and 1/2 ish inches. I did not see any signs of anything wrong but I thought I would ask the community just in case. If you see anything please tell me. I will also put photos down below. If they don't work let me know. (the spot on the last one is light)

That's very small for that age. How much do you know about its history?

Those are very tiny for being that old, they look more like 2-3 months old.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
