Hello all! I was just looking through this whole section and read that certain species of isopods may be better suited depending on the species of salamander or newt, something I didn't know previously. I have a beautiful, healthy Texas barred tiger salamander and was wondering what species of isopod would be best. I already know how to culture and originally was planning to collect the natives ones outside but read they may be too much to digest. I want the best food possible for my little one so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would say, get the largest species you can possibly get, such as the giant gary or giant orange. Smaller isopods probably wouldn't even be noticed by a Tiger.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
