why i am wanting to add to it is i have seen it again, this time also in C.e.popei but this time it was the male who probably produced it. there were a few spermatophores on the bottom of the tank over the past few days, but right as i was watching him he turned to it and ate it. i was wondering if its just some form of consumption of available resources. in theory it could be a form of latent sperm competition, but after 2 days would the sperm in these still be active? this may explain why some of my females lay eggs w/o me knowing they actually bred. i was under the assumption that they dissolved after a few hours/days, but this may be the answer.
