i didn't know where this msg would fit, here sounded best.
this morning i found these small red worms in the tank outside where i was collecting mosquito lavae. they are about the same size at the larger lavae but just out of curiosity: what are they??

Hi,
The red wrigglers are known as "Bloodworms" in Australia (not sure about other countries, sometines tubiflex worms are called bloodworms but these are different) The red wrigglers make great fish food (Axylotls etc?? not sure, I'm new to these, and here to learn from you all)
The red wrigglers eventually turn into a non biting midge, so I guess they are also known as "non biting midge larvae" if you wanted to do a search. Sorry if this message repeats, still getting the hang of posting here.

Just to add, do they look just like mossie larvae?(Wrigglers) or smooth like worms?? If they are red wrigglers then they are non biting midge larvae, but if they are more like worms... then I have no idea...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
