this is a call to all for salamander contacts in academia. its now getting to my last year at this college and i have to start sending out emails of inquiry for grad school work. i am looking at the southern ohio/penn region-but who knows-if i get a real interesting offer i might go anywhere. ...yes i could do hours and hours of research on the web to look for people who have published articles on sals and then see where they teach-but asking may be a better route......i am looking to go for a phd directly. i need to know of university directors/researchers i can approach in the field of amphibian conservation, decline, ecology...etc, and would like to hear about anyone who specialises in caudates. i would also be interested in contacts with anyone who is receptive to this type of research.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
