I may be in Berlin and possibly France for a week or so in early April for a friend's concert. I was wondering if I could obtain some [CB] Triturus newts while there and if I could even leave the country with them!
Thanks for your help!

Bri

Hi Bri,

you may obtain newts legally in Germany and receiving the papers with them, but you will have major problems importing them into the US, as this country is paranoid in importing natural products from other continents in their country.
Sorry, but the problems is located on the border of the US (inside going).

Uwe

and I don't think you're allowed to take them on the plane as well...

Oh boy...
It's one thing after another with this country of mine.
Thanks for your information very much!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
