Mutation!

i was doing a water change today and i noticed that one of my c.orientalis has two hands on one arm! ill try to get some pics in soon
 
How come this can suddenly happen? It's hand got bited off first and regrew into mutation?
 
Usually to regrow an extra hand, the damage to the first was not enough to amputate it, but enough to trigger the regrowth, so you get two where there was previously one.

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
