The Mid Atlantic Reptile Show will be at Timmonium Md. on Sept. 16 & 17 2006. This is a charity event. Their should be about a dozen types of c.b. newts and salamanders offered for sale their. I will be a vendor.

I was at the Philly event over the weekend. It was nice and there were some great herps but no sallies. There were plenty of PDF's though. Black Jungle is always great though so I was not surprised there. One thing that did irritate me though, there were at least three vendors selling Sulcata Tortoises to kids of all ages. I'll bet I saw twenty or more leaving the show in their little tupperware tubs. Sulcatas are the third largest species and live for upwards of 100 years. I'd bet the ranch that 99% of the ones sole will be released into the local field/park within a year. Just makes me mad. Sorry for the vent.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
