Hi All,
The 2004 IAD (http://www.intlamphibday.org/Welcome.asp) is set for April 2-4 in Baltimore Maryland. If all goes well I should be doing a workshop on housing and management of aquatic amphibians so there will be at least some discussion of salamanders and newts. So if you can make the time and are in the area you can stop in to heckle.

Well if you really want to be heckled during your talk... I'll just have to come! (Going to try, anyway.)

Why could it not be two weeks later - at least I'd be on the same continent this time.

I'll be glad to get together with anyone who can make it. I had a blast last year, there were groups of people who stayed up all night in the hotel lobby talking about amphibian care.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
