Bugs in a Jar of rice

Well, the folks had left a jar of rice outside-due to being infested with little bugs about the size of springtails. There seem to be quite a few of ther crawling in there...too small to tell what they are. Do you suppose they might be good food?

Maybe Sitophilus oryzae?

They arent mites...probably beetles, but they are a light brownish color. Will check out that name Mike.

they may be rice flower beetles. the beetles dont make good food but alot of people feed the larva (worms) to their dart frogs.

I don't think they are rice weevils or mites. They look kind of like termites don't they? Wonder if they are juicy?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
