Hi Josh,

My recipe: Thaw and rinse frozen bloodworms. (Use a fine mesh strainer.) Place bloodworms using a tweezers, or long spoon, on a dish that is permanently placed in your tank. This method keeps the bloodworms from whirling around in your tank which causes a mess. It also allows your newts to feed more easily, and have access to more bloodworms. It's also fun to see your newts head for their "dinner plate".

I worked with another employee once who fed a snowflake eel frozen food and forgot to thaw it. I'd say it was a bad idea.

My axolotls refuse to wait until their bloodworms thaw. I thaw it slightly, to make it look 'hairy', and rinse it off. When I toss it in there, one of them always swallows it whole. Sometimes it's so big they can't close their mouth around it. But they refuse to spit it out!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
