Morph not eating

I posted earlier on what to feed my new morph (a smooth newt) and I have been trying to feed him frozen bloodworms but he is not eating. This is the third week he has not eaten anything, is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make him eat?

Morphs usually tend to go some time without eating. Have you tried small live food such as pinhead crickets or flightless fruit flies?

I found that chopped earthworms are more easily taken by my Cynops Orientalis than frozen bloodworm.

I'll buy some pin head crickets today, do you know where I could find wingless fruit fly?
I'll also look for some earth worms, but he is so tiny I'm not sure I can chop an earth worm that small...

I think some big petshop will have fruit flies. Especially where they have dart frog for sale.

If you're keeping the morph on land then it will not eat frozen bloodworms.

Yay!! He ate his first meal today! I caught a tiny crawly thing and left it in his cage on a little plate and he hunted it and ate it

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
