my newts (Japanese firbellies,m+f),have constantly been attacking each other so my female stays out of the water(permanantly)so the male cant get her.im worried not only because shes staying out of the water but she wont come down 4 her food,please help!p.s ive tried nudging her into the water but she just goes straight back up.

if she'd being attacked then take her out and put her in a different tank

I agree with willam, while this may occure in other species, during the breeding season, I on not know wether or not the C.o attack, or ram each other. I would put the female in another container.

but I cant buy another tank, my dad barley let me have this one.what if i find a bit of plexiglass, will that help? If so where can I find it???

Chinese Firebellies are small enough that you can keep one in a food tub with a lid. You can get 3 of them for like, $3US. Or you can build a DIY tank divider. Plexiglass can be found at home improvement stores, and usually cut to specifications.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
