Hi, I've 3 newts in my tank, along with some other fish. What I need to know, is,do the active ingrediants Phenoxyethanol or Malachite green, acriflavin or quinine sulphate, harm newts in any way? these ingrediants are taken from King British-fin rot and fungus, and, King British-white spot control. I need to use these in my tank and was hoping they were safe to use. I have been told that if it says not to use on clown loaches, then it wont be safe to use on newts.on the packets it just says- not for use in marine aquariums, for ornamental fish only. help much appreciated! thanks from jane

first do not keep newts with fish next the product i no is safe is melafix this is ok for your newts but malachite green upset my newts so it is best not to use it j slate

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
