My newt recently developed a rather large white spot on his nose. At first I thought he got it from rubbing his nose against the rock I HAD in his cage, but then I visited my friend who had purchased a fbn from the same pet store and he had a white patch in his side and back. So now I'm thinking it's a disease or infection of some sort.

Does anyone know what this is?
If so how can I treat this?

It's an infection. It's common in newly-imported newts, which have often endured a lot of stress. Unfortunately, I don't know any sure way to cure it. Some have used high doses of kanamycin (an antibiotic for fish) with success. Here are more ideas:

Also, read the FAQ there, if you haven't. Good luck!
