Would wearing latex gloves while handling my firebelly newt be safe?

I know newts can be toxic, so would it be wise to let my 8 year old son handle my newt if he's wearing latex gloves? or would it be toxic for the newt?

In terms of toxicity to either party, yes it would be safe. In terms of stressing out the newt, no it would not be safe. Regular handlings of the newt would likely stress out the newt to the point that it's immune system could be adversely affected. Amphibians are the type of pets that should be handled as little as possible.
