Juvie C.o. acting wierd.

My juvie was in the water for about 5 months, now he has taken to the land and does not want to go into the water at all. He has been out of the water for a month or 2 now. I am worried because I never see him eat. I have a milk cap level with the substrate filled half way with water and I put live blood worms in there. I also have pin-head crickets in there with him to see if he will eat those. I have seen him try to eat them, but missed. So mabye he eats them. I have tried to tweezer feed him, but he does not seem interested. Is this normal juvie C.o. behavior, will he take to the water again.
 
I know the answer is probably "yes, he will take to the water probably and yes this is normal behavior", but I need some reasurance from u guys, thats all.

If you saw him try to eat a cricket, he probably succeeds sometimes. You might also want to try fruit flies. Keep his skin wet - once it dries out, they seem to become hydrophobic.
 
Yeah i mist him like 2 times a day. He has moss and the substrate is coconut fibers, and is always moist. I saw him this morning sitting in the feeding dish that is filled with water. I hope he goes back soon it is alot easier to feed them in the water.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
