Eastern newts question

2 of my eastern newts have been in amplexus for the past week or more. The male is dropping spermatophores. No signs of egg laying yet though. I've posted pictures of her in the photograph section, she's getting very large. I see in a few other posts in other areas it was suggested (different species) to lower water level, raise water temp, and a few other suggestions. Are these suggestions basically the same for eastern newts? What is the ideal setting for them and to trigger egg laying, ie- water temp, level, etc.

I would be glad if someone has some ideas, but unfortunately I don't think anyone really knows specifically what triggers them to lay eggs. Temperature and light cycle are probably involved, but there is no magic formula I've ever heard for this species.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
