Feeding schedule

So far, one of the 2 C. orientalis I have has been eating. On caudate culture, it reccomends feeding them 3 time a week as much as they will eat.

After watching one gulp down several bloodworms and 3 earthworm chunks yesterday...I thought he'd be full. I was trying to tempt the other one to eat(that one must be more stressed, and only made a rare half hearted attempt to snap up a piece...and failed of course)this one comes along in and eats several more bloodworms.

Do they know when to stop eating?
 
Not to sure it makes a difference...but I meant blackworms.
 
they will eat a ton of blackworms and will eat as much as you will feed them pretty much. i know most places recommend feeding once every 3 days i feed mine 1 time a day but in small portions and they do fine no waste food and they are all healthy and active.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
