How many gallons for a pair of cynops orientalis?

Hi!

First of all, sorry for my English. I'll probably make some mistakes.

I'd like to have a pair of cynops orientalis. I've read the article about them and I think is a good newt to start with, even though I will need to do something with the temperature in summer. I'll solve the problem before buying them.

Which capacity should the tank have? If you give it in gallons tell me which type please (USA or Imp), I'm not used to them

I will give them life and frozen food, do water changes every week as I do with my toads and fish, cover every hole with a net... Is there anything that is not in the article and I must know before having these little animals?

Hi Lamia. 10 gallons (USA) is great for a pair of orientalis. I would advise a filter and hardy live plants, if you have any. You can test out some cuttings of house plants to see if they live in water, also.

Not all here would agree with me on the live plants, that's my personal preference. About the only thing you have to remember with them, is that if they seem to be dying...pull them out!

I would also advise getting your animals through someone on this site, if you can. However, if you're going to buy them from a pet store, do not buy the cute little babies. The older adults have a much higher chance for survival. (I know this through experience as well as information from others).

I don't think I could get my animals through someone on this site. I'm from the north of Spain.

I have lots of plants to put inside or outside water, so I'll use them as you say.

Could I use a 5 gallon tank? I guess not. It's the one that a friend bought me, but it seems that I'll need to buy another one.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
