The standard treatment for body fungus for axolotls and other fully aquatic species is salt baths. You can find information about this treatment by searching the archives of the axolotl forum. I can send you articles from the axolotl colony website, if you need more scientific info.

This might help:

If you need a "household" recipe, see the addendum at the end of that article.

wouldint the tetracycline pills that they sell for fish work as well? im pretty sure they dont have any copper in them so they would be safe for amphibians

Tetracycline is an antibiotic, it doesn't work against fungus.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
