Well she was showing no signs of life this afternoon. I checked for a long time to make sure. I put her in a match box and buried her in the back yard. I put some quarts crystals in with her. Now at least she is in no pain. She gave me 3 wonderful little newt tadpoles. I will always remember her. Even though she never got a name.

Thx for all the help Jeff. I quess I was just to late.

Sorry to hear that John. I was pulling for her to make it.

I'm so sorry John, I was hoping that one day my little girls would be like yours and have some offspring of their own. I'm so sorry for the bad news, I thaught she was getting better....

Thx guys. She seemed to be getter better one day, and the next day she took a big turn for the worse. I checked out her wound after she died and it looked worse. The bottom part of the leg near the torso was pretty infected and eaten away layers of skin. I wish I knew what happened. At least she is in a peacefull place now.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
