Hey I thinking about getting a california newt(my first one yes!!) from reptile city on the internet but the last time I order some tiger salamanders from there they werent in very good health so should I buy one, there caresheet seems to be correct? check it out at www.reptilecity.com thanks

hi, me personaly I do not believe in buying any kind of animal off the internet cause you dont get to see how healthy they are until you have paid for your newt (+ shipping and handling) So in my opinion I would say do not order from them.

oh, and I would like to tell you that trachia granulosa are pretty toxic but if you dont beleive me then you should dread this article on caudata culture...

Michael, I don't know anything about this website but ordering online does have it's negative side, but that doesn't mean that you have to rule it out.

Also, to clarify on what Christopher said: While t. grans are toxic, I really don't think that is anything bad as long as you understand it.

what I meant to say was I wouldn't order a living animal off the internet but I have to say that I do order some decor' and substrate from petco.com..................................not a prob.......

I was referring to living animals specifically.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
